What is a virtual fitness challenge?

A virtual fitness challenge can be completed anywhere, at anytime, by anyone. Runners, walkers, cyclists and many others use virtual fitness challenges as a way to stay motivated and accountable in order to achieve their fitness goals. The best part is that you can complete a virtual fitness challenge from your own hometown or anywhere in the world!

Our virtual fitness challenges are more than just running and walking challenges. Each challenge includes access to private motivational communities, tools to track your mileage, and health and fitness material to help you on your journey.

We ensure that each of our challenges are unique, fun, inspirational, and customizable. The focus is on you. We want to help you achieve your goals.

What's the difference between virtual fitness challenges and virtual races?

Virtual races are often one dayone distance events where you compete against others and the clock. For example, you might sign up for a 5K virtual race, upload your results, and look at a leaderboard.

For about the same price, our Virtual Fitness Challenges keep you moving over a longer period of time and focus on completing the challenge (like climbing a mountain) rather than beating others.

Imagine covering 2,021 miles in the year 2021 or using your miles to virtually travel across the United States. Imagine the new you when you reach the finish line!

JOGLE

Run, walk, bike, swim, or hop your way across the UK, following a virtual course inspired by the famed JOGLE route from John O' Groats to Land's End in the Run The Edge Tracker!

Use the miles you cover daily to complete the distance solo or with a team of up to 10 friends (or strangers)! We sync with Garmin, Fitbit, Strava, and Apple Watch. You can also manually enter your miles!

Registration is OPEN NOW! The challenge begins on August 1st and you will have until December 31, 2022, to complete 853.5 miles.

50% of your digital registration will be donated to 2 mental health charities.

Run The Year®

Run/Walk 2,022 Miles in 2022

The Hero's Journey

Released in June, 2022... Coming back in October, 2022

Even if you haven't heard of 'The Hero's Journey', it's a story you've been exposed to more than you realize. It is the perfect framework for epic adventures, books, and movies. A well-known example is Star Wars (Luke is the only hope!).

There are twelve phases of The Hero’s Journey as the hero transitions from their own ordinary world into the unknown to complete a quest or mission to ultimately come back home. In our Hero's Journey you have one month to complete 12 different distances (the quests, read more in our FAQ!), win prizes from our generous partners, and even win custom Hero's Journey swag of your choice. The distances range from 2 to 9 miles, and you can complete them by walking, running, biking, swimming, or any other form of exercise you choose. There is a suggested order to complete the quests to follow the trajectory of The Hero's Journey, but ultimately, you can complete your journey on your terms!
